The wide open Web
|
You've probably noticed that we talk a lot in this newsletter about Firefox and the open Web, but what exactly do we mean by "open"? Well, an open Web is one that's a product of collaboration and is accessible to all. Firefox is a living, breathing example of that openness, with 40% of its code written by more than 40,000 volunteer contributors!
To explain it further, we asked Mark Surman, Executive Director of the Mozilla Foundation, a few questions about the open Web and why it's so important.

Where will Firefox OS launch next?
|
It's been a great first year for Firefox OS, our new mobile operating system. We started with a single launch in one country, and before we knew it, we were going strong in four more locations. By the time 2013 comes to an end, we'll have Firefox OS smartphones in 14 different markets!
