Hi all!

We wanted to let you all know that, in the place of our usual LD4 Discovery call, we will be having a crossover episode with the LD4 Wikidata Affinity Group call.  Tomorrow’s session is part of a series related to the Wikidata Graph Split project.   This crossover episode relates to discovery in two ways:

  • Wikidata is a crucial component for much of our prototyped and production linked data discovery work.   As such, enhancements and modifications to the query service are of interest.
  • The Wikidata search and query features are themselves also discovery services related to linked data.
  • Lessons that the Wikidata team has learned with respect to graph/linked data search may help inform how we approach linked data discovery implementation at scale.

Please note the changed Zoom link below in the forwarded email from the Wikidata Affinity Group. We will add this Zoom link and links to the Wikidata page for this project series to our usual running agenda/notes as well for tomorrow.

Thanks and see you all tomorrow!!

Huda

Subject: Upcoming LD4 Wikidata Affinity Group Project Series, starting June 3rd!

Hi, everyone,

Mark your calendars for our upcoming event series on the Wikidata graph split project and SPARQL skills!

We will be kicking off our next Wikidata Affinity Group Series on June 3rd, where we will begin learning about the recent scholarly article graph split project from members of the Wikidata Search Team, Lydia Pintscher and Guillaume Lederrey.  Bonus fun: the LD4 Discovery Affinity Group will be joining the call!

On June 10th, guest speakers Daniel Mietchen and Lane Rasberry will provide an update about Scholia and their ongoing work to navigate the changes with the Query Service.

Next, Mary Aycock and Sarah Kasten will lead two sessions on developing SPARQL skills and using federated queries, which will be a mix of discussion and hands-on work, on June 24th and July 8th.

All events will take place at 9am PT/ 12pm ET/ 16:00 UTC / 5pm CET (Time zone converter).
