Freddy, the networks listed are consecutive "builds" of Leela chess zero (lc0).  Over time Leela has changed constantly learning new patterns as represented in each new build.  In general the higher the network number the stronger the Leela.  Each network is parsed by the lc0.exe as weights for the engine.

The most recent version of lc0.exe is best, I think it is v18 now.  Basically, download a network or a few:
  • 9149 seems best on slower hardware for very quick time controls (its lightweight)
  • 11187 seems best on good gpu hardware on longer time controls (4+min).
Once you have your chosen network, drop it in the lc0 cpu or gpu folder and rename the weights file to weights.txt (unzip first if needed).  Next double click the lc0.exe and type: go nodes 100 to make sure everything is working fine.  If you want a GUI guided user interface, there are great free options such as Lucas Chess, SCID vsPC and Chess Arena.

:)

It seems you are having trouble with changing the file type.  When you open the folder containing the downloaded network file, it must first be "unzipped" with winrar, winzip or 7zip.  Drag the unzipped file into the folder and right click to rename it "weights.txt" (include the .txt part).  Double click the exe to test if it is working before loading it in arena.  Type go nodes 100 and make sure you get lc0 analysis output.  If all is well at this step, then you can load it into Arena.  The link for version 18 is here.

Fredy,

Sorry don't have time for skype, these instructions will work if you follow them and they would be the same instructions I would give you on skype.

  1. You must right click the .pb file and click rename and type "weights.txt".  (What is so hard about following this one and only step)
You say you can't change the file, but what I see is you have failed multiple attempts of following simple instructions.  Sure, I am mildly frustrated, since the operation I have explained is simple and straightforward.  Unfortunately, if you still can't get it to work after this reply, I cannot help you and I am afraid no one else will be able to help either.  You must figure out what is stopping you from renaming the file and its extension, all I can do is explain over and over the exact same instructions, it is up to you to follow these instructions.  If you can't follow the instructions, I can't help.  Good Luck.

Actually you don't need to rename the weights file. That was for older versions of lczero. Newer versions of lc0 use the new .pb format. Probably you could change it to .txt but it is not necessary. Sorry for my english, I'm not a native english speaker.
