What Specifications does the GPU need for CUDA

Hi everybody.

At the moment I have not that much money to buy a really quick GPU. But sometimes there are good chances to find a used one at ebay. Therefore I wanted to ask, what specifications the card needs for the CUDA-Version (Compute Capability)

Furthermore I would suggest that someone adds a manual how to install the CUDA-Version in a GUI

If you are low on funds and want to help, then I recommend either

•  Google Colab (free and easy to set up,but requires a bit of maintenance to keep it going)
  
• or Google Cloud Compute (free $300 credit trial, a little more challenging to get up and running, but once it does, it is very easy to maintain) . 

Even if you still want to buy your own GPU, you can still experiment with different GPUs on cloud compute and get a sense of how much bang you are getting for your buck.

You can select a Tesla K80, P100 or V100 currently.

Theoretically, you can also select a  2nd generationTensor Processing Unit, but I don't know if anyone has succeeded in getting that to work with leela chess zero yet.  If anyone has succeeded, please do let me know.

Thank you Jeremy for your answer. But it doesn't really help. I looked at the NVidea Homepage to find out if my graphic card would work with CUDA. I have a very old GeForce 8400 GS. On the website I found out that it should work with CUDA but it has only a compute capability of 1,1 (well... I don't know what thay may mean...)

I tried to get it to work with the normal GPU-Version of Leela, but had no success. So I guess the card is too old or the compute capability too low. I don't know if it qould work with CUDA but I guess that if it doesn't work with the normal GPU-Version then also the CUDA-Version will not work

Now I found a GTX 750 TI for about 30 EUR at ebay. The nVidea Website says, it has a compute capability of 5.0. Therefore it would be interesting to know, if it will work and if I should buy it.

Maybe somebody has this card and knows if it will work.

I have a GTX 750 Ti running the GPU client, it gets about 400 games a day. 300 to 350 nps.  I expect it will run CUDA but haven't tried it yet. Waiting for LC0 to come out with client.

Obviously, it is hard to recommend without knowing your budget, but a decent upper-medium ground might be the GTX1050ti. I saw some on Ebay.de for roughly 140 Euros, which is about half the price of a new GTX1060 but 70% the performance.
