Hi all

I can see two games were played last night, thank you.  Still the league with most postponed games

I can see that Bearos still have 3 games to play as do Wombatters.  Bearo’s have struggled for numbers this season, other teams have been weather affected.

Next week, there is a potential fro double headers (3 innings each) on teusday 23rd….  Bearo’s could catch up, if Wombatters and/or CRUK help them out.

If you share planned dates for next week, rest week after, you might be able to coordinate dates for double headers, play twice a week if you can.  We have rest of this week for postponed games.  Round 5, then another rest week.

Worse case scenario, if all the games don’t get played..  I’ll draw lots and assign you KO’s based on games played, possibly assume the odd walkover to fudge the table.   You will all get at least 1 knockout game, it’s about finding a fair way to get you that.

I am here to help you get as many league games in as you can, keep your teams motivated so people still want to take part.

If you can reply to this thread, fill in the matrix of planned fixtures, you can all help each other etc.

Enough for now, better log in and do my day job.

Hi league 1

Thanks for catching up everybody this week, hope you had fun.

Assuming you all play Round 5 games in the sun next week in the Sun, leaves us with 3 postponed games:

Home Team

Away Team

AMS Cobras

Wombatters

The BearOs

Mighty CRUK’s

The BearOs

Wombatters

Suggestion.

  • Agree a night all three teams can play w/c 29th of June.
  • All play in Hyde Park.
  • Play first two games over 3 innings.
  • Then Bearos & Wombatters play a 2nd 3 innings match, everybody else has a beer in the sun.
  • I book you two pitches next each other if you tell me a date asap.

Shout if you need us.

Hi Stato and league 1 captains,

Hoping we can get this sorted, and looking forward to some more softball in the sun!

Our preferred day is Tuesday 30th - we now have 10 players confirmed. We unfortunately had quite low responses for the following few days, most notably because a few of our teams members have been pulled into attending a corporate event on the Wednesday eve.

Let me know if this works for everyone.

Thanks so much,
Luke

Morning folks, thanks for everyone’s efforts in trying to get these games played!

Wombatters and AMS have pencilled in Monday 29th for our rearranged game as we are both hopeful we’ll have enough for that day.

Looking back at that email chain, AMS don’t have enough for the 30th and 1st. Wombatters can scrape a team for the 30th but have hardly any women able to make the 1st. So as it stands:

Monday 30
Tuesday 31
Wednesday 1
Wombatters

AMS

BearOs

CRUK

What about squeezing an extra game into week 5? Wombatters and CRUK are playing Tuesday 23rd, what day are the BearOs playing next week?

Many thanks,

We don’t have enough to fit in a double on the Thursday, I think we only have 3 player available for the 25th. Possibly we could get a few more and do Wednesday 24th.

We have a squad of 14 currently to play Wombatters on Tues 23rd. Could we potentially do a double-header that day to get our fixture with Bearos completed too, on the basis of lending them up to 4 of our players, if they’re struggling for numbers.

Thanks,

Hi All,

The next two weeks are proving quite difficult for us to find players due to some events that people will have to attend. Based on the polls we’ve sent around, the Monday (30th) we’ve pencilled in for our game with Wombatters is the only real option for us. If Sloths and Centipedes and Wombatters were happy we could aim for a double header that day?

Appreciate two double headers in two weeks would be far from Ideal for so do let us know if you would prefer not to.

Best wishes,

Liam

Hi all

Thanks JT for the offer of loaning players on Tuesday, I'll ask our team and see if we can get enough players together.

4 players did initially say they were available for Tuesday so if they're still around then we might be able to get enough players to play. Is it ok if I let you know on Monday morning?

Thanks

Hey gang, my wonderful captain Fran has pointed out that I’ve got my dates muddled: Monday is the 29th, Tuesday the 30th and Wednesday the 1st.

So, for example, the Wombatters are playing AMS Cobras on Monday 29th and can accommodate Sloths and Centipedes if they’re able to play AMS that day.

If the BearOs can get a team out for Tuesday 23rd we could always do a round-robin and all play 2 innings each and complete three games at the same time?! We have 11 so could lend a player too?

  • Innings 1: CR vs W
  • Innings 2: W vs B
  • Innings 3: B vs CR …then repeat once more.

Just grasping at straws before Stato starts drawing them!

The 3 way Round Robin on 23rd is an interesting idea and think it could work assuming the below numbers, if I’ve got it right. Can the committee firstly confirm that’s an allowable solution and then we can aim to agree between ourselves on Monday (noting I’m last season’s captain, so wouldn’t want to agree to anything without Alex and Luke being across this from our side)

  • Innings 1: CR vs W (10 CR v 10 W)
  • Innings 2: W vs B (10 W v 4 B + 6 CR)

Hi all

So we have multiple staff events and very few days where diaries align in the next two weeks.

I can’t give you a Hyde Park pitch for Monday 29th, reserved for Hotels league.  So if a Monday 29th double header happens, will need to be elsewhere.

My worst case scenario is that I only get 3 or 4 out of 6 games played by 9pm on the 29th of June.  Especially hard on Bearo’s, 2 postponed games to play and out of time, they can only do Wednesday that week and nobody else can.

This again assumes no rain too.

If my synopsis is correct, I will find a way to drop you all into a knock out.  I will basically play god and decide you final placing for expediency…. Based on what is easiest for the league.  I want to give you as much opportunity to influence the outcome, but I also need to be realistic.

If Results go my way for easy admin…

  • the 4 games below all end up as home victories and the table stays as ishttps://www.charitysoftball.co.uk/fg/1_639796930.html.
  • 1 CRUK and 2 Crabs into CUP, 3 S&C and 4 AMS into plate.
  • 5 Wombatters and 6 BearO’s into the Shield…. Straight to quarter finals (2 drop outs in league 2).  Big gap till wc 20th of July.  They could play their unplayed league at their convenience at some point b4 then… dead rubber gets a game in though.
  • So effectively only unplayed game would be BearOs vs CRUK, which has no impact on final placings

But life is never easy!  Let’s all keep talking, but at least you know where my league admin hat is at… help you get as many games in, you’ll all get a chance to play in front of the crowds on finals night.

Thanks for looking into the permutations Paul, we really appreciate it.

Based on my reading of the league table that looks like a fair result, no complaints from me. I’d love to get in as many games as possible but I’m very sympathetic to having low numbers, it’s really tough when you desperately scrimp together a team… only for the oppo not to be able to make that day.

Thanks for the reminder about hot having a booked space for Mondays, Regent’s it is!

Hi all

I have taken the liberty of booking you pitch 5 next Teusday 23rd, to hold the space.

If you can play multiple games what ever the format/length, I will approve the results… assuming all who turn up understand the consequences.  Priority is getting games in, you’ll get a knock out whatever.

I am in London for work and will come down and watch, umpire if you really want me to.  I am happy to be a passive catcher to help you get games in, as long you understand I am tied to the rebels, so would basically lob missed pitches back (pitcher would cover home).

As one of the two  committee reps for league 1, my job is to help you.

I’d love to get in as many games as possible but I’m very sympathetic to having low numbers, it’s really tough when you desperately scrimp together a team… only for the oppo not to be able to make that day.

Thanks for the reminder about hot having a booked space for Mondays, Regent’s it is!

Many thanks,

Hi All,

Apologies for the silence, I can check with the team and see if we can loan some Crabs to make up numbers? Would that be helpful, if so how many and when?

Thanks,
Nick
