Hi Team,
We haven't had an injury during a game before, so I wanted to check whether there is any formal reporting process we need to follow? I couldn't see anything in the rules beyond ensuring that appropriate medical assistance is sought but one of our players ruptured their Achilles during last night's game and attended hospital for treatment.
Could you please let us know if there is anything further we need to do?
Best wishes,
Dani

Hi Stato,
Thanks for coming back to me.
We were in the last innings and he was on 2nd base ready to run to 3rd. As soon as he took off, there was an audible ‘pop’ from his left ankle, which was later diagnosed as a ruptured Achilles tendon. It happened at the same time the game ended.
We got him seated straight away, offered pain relief and an Uber to the hospital or station, but he preferred to head home. He already had a podiatry appointment the following day for unrelated toe issues, so we knew he’d be seen by a clinician. He was helped back to St Pancras to travel home to Kent but it would’ve been about 17 hours later that he saw the clinician.
He’s shared the following update:
“The pain was manageable when not putting weight on my foot so I did not go to the UTC Tues evening or Weds morning. The podiatrist was certain I had ruptured my Achilles tendon and I immediately went to the UTC where this was confirmed. Nothing broken on x-ray but my foot is now in a boot and I was put on the appropriate pathway. Pain is low being strapped up 24/7 means no opportunity for it to move and therefore cause pain. Mobility extremely low, discomfort is pretty high but I'm within the first 24 hours of having the boot on/ never used crutches before so need to adapt.”
Copying in the other captains.
Many thanks,
Dani
