We (during this weeks Crabs vs AMS Cobras game) had a visit from the local Corvids. They were hanging out in a tree above the pitch 5 home plate and dive bombed a few players until we moved over… they were persistent!

Week 10

Ball

Bird is the word

You know what time it is, it's share-the-newsletter-with-your-teams time ! Important news for any Tattersalls Tavern regulars below!

We're solidly into the season now and it's been great to see teams across the league getting games in around the unpredictable conditions. New to the scene has been a rise in crow-related incidents and injuries. No, we're not kidding. If you're playing in Hyde Park, please do be aware that our avian neighbours are not always the most accommodating! If you have any incidents on the pitch (bird related or otherwise) please do let us know so that we can log it and follow up if needed.

Keep sending us your photos via social media and do get in touch with your committee representative if you have questions. Forgotten who looks after your league? Check out the draw listings here.

The spirit of togetherness

It is difficult - even impossible - to ignore the current news across the UK and beyond that we've seen in recent months and particularly this week. In the face of division, we're very grateful for the environment of acceptance and community that has been fostered through the London Charity Softball League.

Seeing teams come together week after week in the spirit of fun and friendly competition is a great joy. As individuals, as teams, and as a league, we are testament to the fact that there is more that unites us than divides us. 💚🥎

Normally, the start of the World Cup is a moment of joy, celebration and hope. This time feels different. But on the field at every tournament there are stories of heroics from all over the world. To encourage you to seek them out, and in lieu of a sweepstake, we've assigned all teams a nation. It’s completely optional but you can follow their progress, look them up on Wikipedia or even theme your softball snacks around their national dishes at your next game. We all share the same small pale blue dot.

Changes to Tattersall Tavern deals

As so many teams opt to check in at the Tattersall Tavern for post-game debriefs and general chat, we wanted to make sure that you were aware of the new deal being offered to LCSL teams. This replaces the original drinks deal, so please do bring a copy of the new voucher below (Click the image for a downloadable version)!

Please note this offer is only valid once per team for the season so use it well!

Think before you shout

This week's BSL sign is "Ball". Particularly helpful if you're trying to track down the match ball between innings. 🥎

Did you know - Only 5% of the blind or partially sighted population read braille. There have been huge advances in technology in recent years, such as magnifications, Alexa, audiobooks etc. meaning there are other ways for people to be able to read and find out information.
