I, perhaps foolishly, agreed to present on Drupal. I've been using it
for nearly 5 years and know it pretty well so I figured I could handle
it despite never having presented on anything before ever outside of
school. But I find myself a week away and not really sure what to
focus on. "Drupal" is a huge topic.

On Doreen's suggestion, I'm coming here to see what you are interested
in. Are you looking for more of an introduction to Drupal kind of
thing? I could do some basics on what it is and what you can do with
it. Or, I could dive in with an example pulled from Coulee Region
Online. There's a few distinct sections on there that I could show how
they were built. Some ideas are the forums, the blogs landing page, or
the upcoming communities pages if I can get them done in time. This
sort of presentation would be more along the lines of "here's what
Drupal can do" rather than something a beginner could easily jump in
and replicate.

I'm fine going either way so I'd like to know what you are looking to
get out of the presentation and I'll focus on that.

Thanks,

Michelle

Michelle,

I think the presentation can be anything you want it to be. Cover any aspect you think would be easy to present and of
interest to you.

When I have presented i the past, I kept these questions in mind:

What Problem(s) Needed solving
What did the program try to solve.
What were some of the requirements
Why did you Write it.
Was it for work, personal, or other
Who uses it (yourself or others)
How does it work
What Language(s) are used
Why didn't you use pre-packaged software
What is the user interface (benefits and limitations)
What is the coolest thing it does.
How is it adapted to changes
What is the programs future.

Good luck and thanks.

Brian

Well, what's easy and of interest to me is to show off some of the
cooler stuff I've done. My fear is that showing that to a room of
people not familiar with Drupal will be rather like someone showing
what neat things they can do at the linux command line to me. :) If
there's no real preference, though, I'll likely go with that just
because I think it's more interesting than "This is Drupal, this is
how you install it, blah blah..."
