Shell commands within lol

Hi

This might be a dumb question,but I've looked at docs and stuff and cannot see.

Is it possible to run an external command from within a lol script? The way that lci works as an interpreter means that if it could run (say) a shell command then return to the lol script it could be used as a glue/scripting language. I'm just wondering if it can do it already and I haven't noticed.
