Hello, everyone!

I'm just sending this out as a quick sanity check to make sure it's actually sent out to (and received by) people listed as group subscribers. That and it bums me out to see the topics list empty :)

Give a quick ping if you receive this (and have a moment). Once I've heard back from a few people, we can move forward with decommissioning the old mailing list. I still need to finish revising and moving the LCDproc web site to Github, and the new site will reference the new mailing list instead of the old one. Once that's done, we can retire the old mailing list.

The only remaining task after that will be figuring out how I can possibly thank Gareth Watts enough for hosting the project's web site and mailing list for almost two decades for free :)

I'd also like to remind everyone that you're welcome to join the Github lcdproc repo as developers w/commit access. Just let me know (and include your Github username) and I'll send the invites. Maybe the development workflow on Github is different, and people prefer to clone, patch and send PRs for me to merge instead of just directly working on the official repo, but I'm fine with adding folks for direct commit access.

I'm also fine with the clone/patch/PR workflow and sorta stepping back in as the overall project manager and maintainer (I've learned a few things since I cobbled together v0.2 back in 1998 :)), but I don't want to step on any toes or steal anyone's thunder either. Feedback is welcome!

Thanks again for all your help and support, everybody! The project wouldn't be here without you!

I am really happy with all those positive moves.

A perfect timing when I restarted programming and a bit of electronics with the Raspberry Pi.

Other perfect timing, I have found two LCDs in my garage and I could use them to check if our code still works:
* LK204-25 rev 1.20 Matrix Orbital
* SKD204-634 v 2.0 Crystal Fonts
(I just need to find serial interface...)

And new one's that are Pi/Duino minded:
* I2C 20*4 from rasp.io/dunno/lcd20
* GPIO 16*2 LCM1602D v1.1 from Pimoroni

I hope to be able to contribute again.

David GLAUDE

Hello,

First Post acknowledged.

Greeting to the list, first time poster, long time lurker.

I work at Crystalfontz and as part of that, I joined the list since we
recommend this fine piece of software all to our Linux based customers
and we want to be aware of changes so we know what we are offering.

Thanks,
Max

Hi,

I didn't get the original message - looks like googlegroups is particularly
bad at passing the greylisting of my mail server. I tried to whitelist it
now, let's see how this works out...

Sure, I'm HaraldG at github.

TIA,
Harald

Great to hear! If you have a Github account, let me know your username there and I'll send an invite to add you as a collaborator (write access to the repo, etc.).
