Attention Co-Op-Operatives!

This is the first real announcement of the Fall 2012 Semester! I would like to start off by saying how excited I am at getting the Co-Op running again, we've done a lot of prep work over the past few months, and I really think this is going to be a BIG year.

For those of you that are joining this group for the first time, or have never worked at the Co-Op before, here's the low-down:

The way the Co-Op runs is really very simple. There is a schedule (linked below) detailing all of the available volunteer shifts at the Co-Op during the week. As a member of the Co-Op, this is what most people do to contribute. While myself and other Coordinators are working on coming up with more ways for you guys to help our development, this is always a great chance to help out and make a great resource available to the student body.

That being said, if you don't think that you can sign up for a shift, due to an inconsistent schedule please let me know, ASAP. We can accomodate. Often time most people sign up for shifts with their friends, to have a back-up as well as someone to hang out with on your shift. If you still don't think you can sign up for a shift but still want to be a part of the Co-op somehow, let's talk. I am really trying hard this semester to engage more with the members to get more cool shows/projects/activities going-on in the Co-Op, so don't be shy if you have a cool idea!

For those of you returning to the loving arms of our Co-Op for one more GREAT GOSHDARN SEMESTER, here's a shout out:

YOU get priority on shifts. If you had one last semester and you would like it again (although there are slight changes to the duration/ timing of the shifts...) you are GUARANTEED it. Please just make sure to let me know that you want that shift so I can confirm you in the schedule. If you don't remember what shift you had, the old schedule is linked below as well. The sooner we can get everyone scheduled, the more smoothly the training and opening will go.

*GETTING IT ALL FIGURED OUT*

Before we can open, we need to make sure that we have a few pieces of information from you:

1. Your Desired Shift (List several in case your top choice is already taken by a veteran worker)
2. We need to exchange phone numbers. This way if you are going to miss your shift, I can make sure someone covers it. How shift swapping/coverage will work exactly will be covered at our first member meeting.
3. The status of your Oregon Food Handler's Permit. If you have one, we need to make sure I have it on file. If you do not, it is really easy. The link for the website will be posted in another topic in this group, and we will make sure you get it by the end of the member meeting.

You need to at least email me back with your desired shift(s). (Pick from the schedule linked at the end of the email.) If you want to work with someone, you need to tell me who and have them email me as well. If you want to work multiple shifts/consecutive shifts, let me know as well. The more volunteerism the better. We can make all sorts of arrangements happen, don't be shy!

The phone numbers can be sorted at the meeting or one-on-one later, and the Oregon Food Handler's process will be lined out in the next topic for the googlegroup.

*THE FIRST MEMBER MEETING*

The first All-Member meeting is Thursday, October 4th, at 4PM. In the Co-Op. This is mandatory if you want to work at the Co-Op, because this is when we will be doing training. Even if you have done the training last year, we need you again because we have changed the system a little bit. That being said, if you CANNOT make it, you need to let me know, like, immediately. That way we can organize another time to meet at the Co-Op and go over the procedures of everything and make sure I have all of your information on file.

AS FOR THE TIMING OF OUR GLORIOUS OPENING

The date is Saturday, October 6th, at about 4PM. This will be a Music/Food/Crafts/Etc... event, to get everybody psyched up. Who doesn't love a good 'ol dance party? Spread the word, more information on specific music and events COMING SOON.

Then, Sunday, October 7th, the first shift (7:50AM-9:00AM) begins! Awwwwww Yeaaaaaaaaa!

Okay, last thing (I know it's a lot).

If you have ANY QUESTIONS. (Seriously, even like "where the heck IS the Co-Op") DO NOT HESISTATE TO TEXT OR EMAIL ME. I am always happy to help y'all out. YOU are what makes the Co-Op possible, and I want to make sure you have everything you need to make the best out of this experience.

Peace out for now y'all, hope to hear from you soon!

Andrew (Membership Coordinator)
