For those organizations with operations in the Metropolitan New York / New Jersey area we provide the following critical information.

STATE OF EMERGENCY DECLARED FOR: New Jersey (as declared by Governor Christie);  New York (as declared by Governor Cuomo)

BLIZZARD AND COASTAL FLOODING WARNING: New York City; Long Island

BLIZZARD AND WINTER STORM WARNING: Hudson Valley Region (NY)

The following closures / suspensions have been announced as of this time:

Port Authority of New York & New Jersey Facilities:
  • PANYNJ Hudson River Crossings:  There is a travel ban in effect for all cross-Hudson bridges and tunnels of the Port Authority (George Washington Bridge, Lincoln Tunnel, Holland Tunnel, Bayonne Bridge, Goethals Bridge, Outerbridge Crossing).
  • PATH Rail Service will remain in operation with the exception of service between Newark and Grove Street (external operations)
  • Airports: All Port Authority Airports with the exception of Teterboro remain open but flyers should check with their carriers regarding flight suspensions.
  • AirTrain JFK Airport Service and Taxi Dispatch Services have been temporarily suspended. Port Authority Bus Service at JFK has ceased operations.
  • Port Authority Bus Terminal:  Due to severe weather conditions, bus carriers operating out of the Port Authority New York - New Jersey Bus Terminal will have suspended service and the bus terminal has closed until further notice.
Non- Port Authority services:
New Jersey:
  • Garden State Parkway: Speed and weather related restrictions on Garden State Parkway both directions Southern Terminus/CR 109 (Cape May) to New York State Line (Montvale)  35 miles per hour due to plowing and salting operations.
  • New Jersey Turnpike:  Speed and weather related restrictions on New Jersey Turnpike in both directions from Delaware Memorial Bridge in Pennsville Twp to George Washington Bridge in Fort Lee - Speed posted at 35 mph for Salting and  Plowing operations.
  • NJ TRANSIT:  Operations including rail, bus, light rail and Access Link service is temporarily suspended due to the severe winter weather impacting the region. Service will be restored as weather conditions permit. 

New York:

  • Verrazano Narrows Bridge: Lower level is closed in both directions.
  • All MTA New York City Transit Buses: Due to inclement weather, all (MTA) NYCT Local, Express, Limited and Select bus service is now suspended until further notice. 
  • New York City & Long Island Roads are closed
  • MTA NYC Subway Service:  Outdoor subway service / elevated  will be suspended. The subway will operate underground only currently.
  • Long Island Rail Road and Metro North Rail Road are closed.
