Hello everyone,

I need some help with a thermal calculation for a facade/curtain wall system.

I am trying to determine the profile thermal transmittance (Uf value) and the heat flux. I have attached the facade section drawing and the glazing technical datasheet in this post.

Could anyone help me determine the Uf value and heat flux, or explain the calculation method used?

If any additional information is required to perform the calculation, please let me know and I will provide it.

Any guidance, references, or practical experience would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance!

Hello ______,
After doing this a few times and receiving no reply, I think there's either a missing will or a missing human on the other end.

Everything you need to know is spelled out here: https://windows.lbl.gov/documentation-therm
If you have a specific question, ask away.

I think in general this forum is more useful when there has been more progress on a project, ie, a THERM file has been generated and there are issues with how to model something or figuring out what is causing errors in the simulation.

Asking the group to start from scratch is probably too big a lift for the amazing people on this forum who volunteer their time to help each other.

You should be able to calculate a U-factor with THERM, so I would suggest that you take a look at the user manual, and possibly the videos.

There are also very good THERM instruction videos on the Virginia Tech YouTube Channel:

There are also a lot more such tutorials on YouTube by various users.

Hi,

I completely agree with you Robin.
Asking help to this forum for something you are working on with Therm (but you can't succeed) is normal and it's a pleasure to give help.
But just asking the forum to do it for you and even explain the calculation method that has been used, is not very nice.
In the real world people get paid to do that.

Ciao
