I am using THERM version 7.7 and WINDOW 7.7 as well to simulate a facade assembly to compute the overall U-value and SHGC. When I am simulating a mullion section and applied the boundary condition, and press calculate, the software crashes. The last thing I saw on the lower left corner (after I press the calculate button) is "Reading Geometry". What would be the possible problem to this simulation? Is it the complex geometry of the model? Is it the software? Is it my computer specification/hardware? I appreciate the help.
Thank you.

P.S. I also attached the file for reference.

What version of THERM 7.7 are you using? You can go to the Help/About screen to see the exact version, ie, 7.7.10, etc.

It appears that the "cold" side of the model is on the right, and the "warm" side of the model is on the left. Am I interpreting the file correctly?

Yes sir you are correct, the "cold" side (interior face) of the model is on the right, and the "warm" side (exterior face) is on the left.
This is because I am simulating a summer condition.
Thanks,

Kevin

I have spent some time on your model and have not been able to get it to simulate. I should have some time later in the week to work on it some more. It has a lot of detail and is very "tall", which the THERM mesher can have trouble with.

Hi Robin,

Thank you for taking the time to check the model.
Alternatively, since the section is symmetric, I simulated the model in half and found no errors/software crashes.
I also found out that the gravity arrow is not consistent with the imported glazing system.
For now, I think this would be enough for my calculation.
Again, I really appreciate the support.

Yes I was going to suggest cutting it in half because it was symmetrical. Glad that you were able to get it to run.

I do like collecting problem files, however, because then our programmers have actual models that cause problems for the program, so I plan to use your original file as a test case for future bug fixes with the mesher, etc.
