Hello,

I am currently working on a thermal break profile model in THERM 7.8.80 and I am running into a meshing/model generation issue.

After assigning the boundary conditions, the mesh does not complete correctly and some regions appear highlighted in red, as shown in the second attached image.

I already checked the geometry and I cannot see any obvious overlaps or disconnected polygons, although I suspect the issue may still be related to some small geometric inconsistency.

One thing that caught my attention is that I have two cavities defined apparently in the same way as “Frame Cavity CEN”, but one of them is displayed with a different background color. However, when I select it, both seem to have the same cavity definition.

Also, that particular cavity is the one associated with a different BC compared to the rest of the cavities.

Has anyone experienced something similar or knows what could cause this behavior?

I attach a couple of screenshots in case they help.

Thanks in advance!

Juan.-

Hi Juan,

For area circled you have points that are too close together, you will need to remove some.

There is also some duplicated geometry here. You can use the Show Voids/Overlaps to view which polygons you need to delete. This is why you're seeing two different frame cavities as well.

Hope that helps.

Hi Tyler,

Yes, that helped a lot. I found the duplicated geometry and removed the overlapping polygons, and now the frame cavities are displayed correctly.

I also cleaned up the points that were too close together in the circled area.

Thank you very much for your help!

Best regards,
Juan
