Hello and Happy New Year to all of you..
As you may know, Howard has moved off the island and has relinquished the role of President of the LBKBA to me.
Howard has been a strong advocate for cycling on Longboat Key for some time
now and there has been much improvement in the safety of bicycling
in the bike lanes. He will continue to support the group and we thank him for all his efforts.
I would like to introduce myself. I was born and raised in Lakeland, Fl and graduated from UF. I spent my career abroad and Houston and retired to LBK in 2018. I live mid-key. I am an avid road cyclist, logging about 5,000 miles per year, take family cycling
trips once a year and regularly ride to Publix on the sidewalks. I am a member of the Florida Bicycling Association, Sarasota-Manatee Bicycle Club and represent the Town of Longboat Key on the Sarasota County Bicycle, Pedestrian and Trails Advisory Board.
I look forward to work with the Association to continue advocating for safe cycling on the Key. If there are any knowledge, issues and/or concerns you have regarding cycling on LBK please communicate to the group. And check out the website;

Also, please note that as a part of the "Finding our Strengths Together" event (see attached), a roadside clean-up will be held along
Gulf of Mexico Drive the morning of Saturday, February 1. Mark the date and please plan on participating if possible. More information will be circulated shortly.
Thank You
Tom Saunders
