Our monthly membership meeting is this Thursday, June 2nd, 6pm at
Batiste Cultural Arts Academy (Live Oak--9th and Constance). We'll be
discussing the following activities and events:
Volunteer Opportunities:
--Help rehabilitate the Lyons Center baseball field this Saturday
(June 4th), 10am. We need to add more dirt to the diamond before the
season starts. Bring shovels, rakes, gloves and wheelbarows if you
have them.
--Sell beer at our booth at the French Market Creole Tomato Festival
on June 11th and 12th. Contact us at
lbboo...@gmail.com or
504-913-1857 if you would like to volunteer.
--Our June 18th Lyons Center Family Reunion event is just around the
corner. We're looking for folks to help us with donations of food and
drinks to sell, kids activities, and entertainment. If you can help by
donating, or would like to help us secure donations, let us know at
lbbo...@gmail.com or
504-913-1857. We'll also need volunteers to
sell concessions the day of the event.
Youth activities:
--Ed McGinnis is hosting girls soccer practice and scrimmages geared
towards girls 8 to 12 years old every Tuesday from 5 to 6:30 PM at
Burke Park. Although some shin guards are available, girls should
bring some if they have them.
--Baseball practice is in full swing and games are right around the
corner. There is still time to register boys and girls from 5-12 years
old, but do so quickly before the official season begins. You can stop
by Burke Park or Lyons Center Monday through Thursday night and talk
to any of the coaches about registration. We will also have
registration forms available at Thursday's meeting. Bring a copy of
your child's birth certificate to submit with the registration. There
is no registration fee and uniforms/equipment are provided; all we ask
is that parents get involved in the Booster Club to help keep these
activities free for our neighborhood kids.
