Iown a HP laptop with HP coolsense. I use Ubuntu on it as my only operating system. I have noticed the computer has been getting extremely hot, and I am beginning to worry if it is damaging the computer. Is there a program I can use compatible with HP's coolsense to adjust the fan speed and other related temperature problems?

I tried using coolsense yesterday and it loaded up fine on my dv6 6136tx. This was when i was trying out all the HP programs to figure out what to get rid of. Then i went to remove most of the HP programs except for HP recovery manager, hp setup, Hp 3d drive guard. I did not uninstall coolsense. now it says the the .exe file for coolsense is missing (thermalassistant.exe). I tried to download it again both as a seperate program and as part of HP support framework. I installed both and still the .exe file is missing.

So having no choice, I do a system restore to before I removed any HP programs and all the HP bloatware is back but HP Coolsense still missing (shortcut there but icon is missing). Now when I click it, it says Coolsense is not even supported but It worked yesterday. Any ideas?

did a full restore (even had to fill in the start bit again), icon is back, it loads but it says 'Not supported'?? Working on this issue. I wonder if there any negative consequences of performing restores mutiple times. The support assistant isnt working too well either.
