Lawrence Humane Society Update: June 10, 2011
Our annual garage sale to benefit the shelter animals just started, and will be open until 2 p.m. today and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. tomorrow. Don't worry about this rain; our sale is inside a big yellow building! Thank you to everyone who donated items for this year's sale. With less time to prepare and receive items than in years past, we worried one of our largest fundraisers would be a scaled-back affair. But your response has been A-W-E-S-O-M-E and our building is full of so many great items! ![]() Look for this building – our sale is in here! There's furniture including sofas, chairs and an antique secretary's desk, electronics like TVs and walkie-talkies, antique glassware, kitchen items galore, plus KU items and collectibles. This event raises money for our animal care, supplies, equipment, building maintenance and many other critical expenses. The location for this year's sale is just north of the intersection of 31st & Haskell (see map). It's a yellow building with three big bay doors. Urgent Call for Supplies The shelter is currently experiencing a severe shortage of critically needed supplies as a result of the large volume of animal intakes recently. If you can help, we REALLY need the following items ASAP: paper towels, blue Dawn liquid dish soap, laundry detergent, and bleach. Every donation, even just a bottle here or a roll of towels there makes a big difference. Thank you so much! Coming UpWatch for an exciting special promotion next week. We can't tell you about it yet, because it's still a secret. But here's a clue for you: what has whiskers and just loves a family? Careful, it might not be what you think. :-) Stay tuned ...
Have a great weekend! |
