RHEL 4

I download Ruby 1.8.7 to install and all seems to be going well. That
is, until I go to actually install Ruby.

"error: no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH"

Hmm ... OK, so ... yum install gcc

"yum: command not found"

What? Yum not found?

So I put the install disk in the server's drive, but it fails to
recognize it. It mounts, acts like it's going to install, and then
says "Please insert Disc 2."

Want to guess what's in the drive? Yep. Disc 2.

Weeps.

I spoke too soon.

By running up2date - not yum - I got gcc install, then managed to get
Ruby 1.8.7 install very easily after that. I feel pretty good at the
moment.
