Hey All,
So, as we all know, there is no water at the community garden. I have been contacting folks from the Oread Neighborhood Association in hopes that they can contribute some funds to pay off the late fees that have accrued. I contacted David Holroyd, the current treasurer of the ONA, and this was his response:
Hello Becky Crook,
I have forwarded the email you sent to the president, vice president and secretary. Even though I am still the treasurer, I cannot pay any bill unless authorized by the board to do so. The bills were never received at the ONA PO Box. I checked with the post office in the past about this and never heard back from them.
At this point, you might want to get the gardeners all together to share the current amount of $200.00 to restore the service. It is a small amount divided among everyone involved. That is my only suggestion at the amount until a decision can be made. I do know that the city , I believe , charges an irrigation rate for water which is less than a normal water user in a house. That may not be correct but you might check.
I will forward this email to you along to the other officers.

So, hopefully that will go somewhere and they can help us pay for this bill. In the meantime, we have decided to launch a crowd funding campaign! We haven't decided yet which crowd funding website to use for this cause, so if you have any advice, please let us know. What we DO know is, we want to take a big group picture of everyone that is involved in/supportive of the garden this Thursday night. I think it will look nice on our crowd funding page, and might be fun to get together and take a picture anyway. We will be meeting there at 6pm to take a picture, weather permitting.
If you can make it out to the garden thursday night, please do! I will keep you folks updated about this as I know more...
Best wishes,
Becky
