Hi all,

Haven't seen many of you for a long time!! Spring is coming! We should start thinking about all the possibilities!! I've got some watermelon radish seeds!!

Mike,

My friends Danielle and Rion want to help tend the community garden some times. Can you add them to the group list please? Their email address is wolfel...@gmail.com

Peace,
Huan

Hi all,

Huan, that's so exciting!  By the way, Michael, do you know if we are signed up for the Food Garden Tour yet? I know they posted that they only had a few slots left.

I'm so ready to get gardening for the season, but I'm looking forward to the moisture that a good snowfall could bring. It's like the Dust Bowl out there.  I hope you all are well!

Best,

Danielle

Hi Huan,

That's great to hear about your friends. Anyone can add their self to the Google group. If they search "Lawrence Community Garden Project" in Google Groups they will find it easily. Thanks!

Oh yeah. Garden activity!

I have not signed us up for the Tour. Is anyone interested in heading that up?

I've been visiting the garden all winter and the soil is looking sweet under all that hay and compost that we put down in the fall. Since the summers have been so brutal the past few years maybe we should think of some strategies for cooling plants down this year? Drip hose, shade cloth? I am ready to plant peas and greens in a couple weeks!

Hey All

Glad this discussion started. I would be happy to help start setting up the FGT stuff, unless Danielle wants to do it. Should we have a planning meeting in March to discuss ideas for the season? Things we need, projects we want done?

Just to let everyone know, we have a new addition to our garden soil. Kelly and I buried her snake Malice there last week after he passssssssed away. SO, watch out for a ghost snake in the butterfly garden.

Looking forward to seeing you all again!

Michael's mom has moved to Lawrence and wants to plant an area full of flowers we could all cut for bouquets.  Maybe the area where Kara/Claire used to garden?

I think a planning meeting we could invite new members to would be great, esp if we could just have it in the garden and do a little clean up as well if the weather's warm enough.

When I was at the Seed Fair I got some hearty greens like collards and mustard greens to plant for the spring!

cheers
