We would like to see how we can help you with your iPhone screen going black unexpectedly. Here are the steps we reccomend if your iPhone screen goes black: If your iPhone won't turn on or is frozen - Apple Support

This is just happened to me today, worse time too as on holiday and miles away from my supposingly secure home, my iPhone 11 has frozen up and can not use it. Only the EUFY security logo on a blue screen, so tried reset but Rung 111 and had to apologise.

Exact same thing happened to my iPhone XR today. I also had to apologize to 911 dispatch and to my emergency contact. I could not power off or reset. Every attempt, same results. I had access to the control panel via a shortcut and luckily was able toggle airplane mode. Got on my PC and chatted Eufy Support. I said the app was acting like a virus. He said they were aware of the app behavior, but blamed it on Apple iOS. Recommended to reinstall app if I could the restart the phone. Took it to the Geek Squad, they were able to do a forced restart and uninstall the Eufy app. Big ordeal. Lost a little more faith in Eufy products. Currently have the wired video doorbell and indoor cam.

On my less-than-a-week-old (new) iPad 5 Mini, I had experienced a software freeze but only from doing a full screen view of a live feed. I updated my iOS to 14.7.1, but the same event occurred. In both before and after updating iOS, I had to hold down the power and volume-down buttons until it either went to a black screen or rebooted.

Spoke to Verizon. All you have to do is;
1- press and release volume up as quick as possible
2- press and release volume down as quick as possible
3- press and hold shut off for 45 seconds
These steps turned off the phone and reset once I turned it on again.
It worked for me!

The situation seems severe. You can force restart your iPhone by pressing the Home and Power buttons together. If no use, I guess you can use iTunes to restore your iPhone. But this is riskier. And the final tool you can use is TunesKit iOS System Recovery which can turn your iPhone back to normal.

I have no clue what to look for, Event viewer gives a Kernel power error which I suspect is the reset itself, I ran a hardware monitor which logged my GPU temp and it logged 59 C at the point of reset (my GPU is GTX 770, max temp is 98).

I am using Arma3 version with out campaign after starting the game for 15 to 20 minutes my laptop screen goes black like showing that the system is going to shouting down then I am going to turn it off again and then restart the system. My laptop is core i7 seventh generation and I am using ati radeon graphics card.

I know on the iPhone 8, you must hit the volume up button, volume down button, then hold the side button until the hard reset begins. I cannot get this to work -it only gives me the option to shut the phone down normally. What should I do? The phone is new and has no other issues.

I had the same issue as Jack. I held the right hand button for ages and it only gave me one option, to shut down. I also tried to reset the phone using Find My Phone which was another option but that only works when the phone logs into the internet. If the phone is disabled, this doesn't seem like a good option.

Try making sure you hit the volume buttons in quick-enough succession. The phone seems to be very touchy about speed, and you must be very fast. And don't hold down the volume buttons at the same time as holding the power button - I think that's the combination for calling emergency responders.

It does take time for it to restart itself. If you hit the Vol Up, Vol Down, and Side Key fast enough you will see the Shut Down *do not* lift your finger off the side key and after 15-20 secs it should shut down.

Try holding down the power button and while holding the power button in plug your device into a computer with iTunes on it and wait to see if iTunes picks up your phone in recovery mode or comes up with the message to plug your device into iTunes. Once you see any of these you can then let go of the power buton. If there is any power going to your board then it should go into recovery mode which should allow you to restore the phone. If not you will have to take it somewhere that repairs iPhones as they will need to open the device and try figure out the problem.

Hello apple vis users.
I'm new here, but I've been following the forum for some time, and I decided to join because I have a serious problem related to my iphone (SE 2022), which was completely frozen.
by frozen i mean black screen, the buttons don't have any feedback (except for the home button) i even asked a friend to call me and the iphone doesn't call and sends to ovoice mail.
What could it be?
First of all, thank you very much.
Greetings.

I tried to do that, but it didn't work, because the screen doesn't give any kind of life sign as well as the voiceover, the only feedback I have is the click of the home button and nothing else.
still, thanks so much for trying to help.
Best regards

Could doing a factory reset work? I have no idea what could be going on though. Did you dropp your phone recently before this happened? Try connecting it to a computer as ll to see if your computer detects the phone.

I have the exact same issue, but I'm using the latest SE 3rd generation. It's happened twice. The last time the battery was at 75 percent and I didn't touch it and a couple hours later it was like that It takes my phone at least 24 hours to come back on and it's like the battery is totally dead. I checked the battery health and it was 100 percent. I've tried all the suggestions mentioned here, except taking it to the Apple store. I wonder if it's something with the latest update? If it does it again, I will take it to the Apple Store. I was glad to see someone else had the same issue. I thought it was maybe the charging case I was using so took it out of that for now.

First of all, you have no voice over. What I do for this one is, press and hold the home button, ask Siri what the weather is. Then, release the home button, and press the volume up. Sometimes the ringers get twisted around on these iPhones, and your volume might've simply been dropped down to zero. By asking Siri a longer question, it has to speak longer, therefore giving you an opportunity to really fuss with the volume buttons to to see if that's all it is. I even suggest trying it a second time, just in case Siri timed itself out talking, before you really got a chance to press and hold that volume up button.

Next, you indicated that the screen is black. It might be showing as black, if the screen curtain has been turned on accidentally. You can toggle screen curtain back off, simply by doing a three finger triple tap. Remember, if you haven't first fixed your voiceover issue, executing this action won't help you either way, as you wouldn't receive voiceover feedback, indicating whether or not screen curtain has been activated or deactivated.

Although the suggestion is out of order, try plugging your device into a solid power source, ensuring that cables are in good working order, as sometimes they go bad. If you receive feedback from your device immediately, then you know you have power. If you do not receive feedback immediately, this could be an indicator that the battery is simply depleted, it needs time to charge.

Finally, regarding incoming calls going directly to voicemail, if you have a problem with your volume, you wouldn't even know that the phone call was coming in, unless you use vibration as a part of incoming call notifications. So we need to get voiceover back, before you can really do anything. If all else fails, get a sighted person, and go through the steps with someone actually watching the screen for you. At this point, I don't think you actually have a crucial issue, it's just a matter of good doing some good solid troubleshooting.

Had the same exact problem. Shortly after the phone was updated to iOS 16.
Kind of drove me crazy.
Tried all the different resets.
Tried plugging it in.
Was getting ready to take it to the Apple store the next day decided to let the phone die completely so the home button would not move anymore.
After the phone was completely dead and the home button would not move I then plugged in the phone after a little while the phone came on and I have not had that problem since none of the resets are going to work so try that.

I had this exact thing happen to me twice. Here is how I fixed it, both times. Sighted assistance is not necessary, but could be useful if this does not work.
1.Quickly press and release the volume up button.
2.Quickly press and release the volume down button.
3.Press and hold the power button, and count to 12. I found that it takes around 12 seconds for the apple logo to actually come up after the hard reset.
This was the method I used both times this happened to my phone. Now, I hard reset every day or so to see if I can avoid this issue. I hope this works for you.

Probably that only option you have is:
Hard Reset
you have to do the combination of
Home button and side or power button
Press and hold both keys at the same time for about 25 seconds and released them
the device will reboot

It seems to be something with the SE 2 and 3 models as this has happened to me twice as well. The hard reset so far has fixed it. I'm so glad that they changed how to activate SOS because I've set it off sometimes when doing this. The windows chimes for hardware connecting and disconnecting is a good idea! I would of never thought of it, just be careful you don't hold the power button for too long when doing this with the phone connected to the pc as it will put the phone in recovery mode.
