Mexican artist Cristiam Ramos uses oil paint to decorate the wings of preserved butterflies using a magnifying glass, and he puts in an impressive 56 hours a go to get the intricacy just right.

The butterflies are donated to Ramos from across the world by fans and collectors, each is around 12cm in length and already preserved so that they are ready for painting.

‘Since I was a child I was always struck by the colour of butterflies and their transformation, and as I got older my fascination with them never disappeared’ Ramos says.

‘I am the only artist in the world who has done works of art on the wings of butterflies and I have won several awards and a world record’.

Props to Ramos, because his attention to detail is clearly on another level.
