Hi,

What is the origin of the "scaled.shifted" mean and variance adjusted test statistic? According to lavaan help file, it is based on a test also implemented in Mplus 6 or higher. I just wonder where could I find the formulas to calculate it -- I just want to understand it better.

Thanks!

Look for the Satorra (2000) reference on the ?lavTestLRT help page.  There is also an Mplus Web Note (10) that discusses the details for the scaled-shifted chi-squared difference test, but the principles are the same as for the overall fit statistic (which implicitly compares the hypothesized model to a saturated model).
