Is there a way to modify the multi group analysis and measurement invariance tests in SEM to satisfy that both groups are not independent, but actually have a dependency (i.e., paired observations from a repeated measurement)?
As far as I understand the common test rely on the assumption of independent samples for the groups. Or am I wrong?

If the observations are related, make them part of the same record, and use equality constraints to impose invariance. If the assumptions around chi-square hold, then specify nested models and use the chi-square difference to assess the plausibility of the constraints.
