The MODIS collection 6.1 (C6.1) AOD dataset is the most recent version in which the aerosol data collection process has been improved. There are two well-known official aerosol retrieval algorithms, including the dark target (DT) algorithm over land and ocean and the deep blue (DB) algorithm over land. In this study, we used MODIS DB C6.1 AOD products with the following considerations, and the DB algorithm has been developed to have a good performance on bright surfaces such as deserts and snowy areas but also be good at interpreting surfaces that have high vegetation, such as those in the tropics [24]. In addition, the DB product is superior at the site scale [25].
But for most divers, there is not a lot interest in this ancient fish or there is not much publicity on this or perhaps this is a deep sea fish found in depths ranging from 150m to 200m and at temperature range from 17 to 20 degree C ? This Coelacanth fish is a slow moving fish and lives in rocky slopes and caves. A large deep sea fish, it can grow up to 2 metres and weigh up to 80kgs to 100 kgs although on average it is about 30 kgs and can live more than 20 over years (or it can even live up to 80 years according to some reports).
However, habitat conservation problems for Coelacanth are mainly the same for deep sea fishes and remain a challenge. As this species is endangered, it must be properly protected. By sharing this post I hope more people and divers will come to know more about this ancient and scientifically important marine creature.

Crystal Bay is well known particularly for its Mola Mola sightings. Our guide left us at the edge of the huge coral drop off (goes down down down!) and swam out into the deep blue to look for Mola Mola in the distance. Unfortunately, he didn't spot any.

We could see brilliant blue dots glistening in the water. These were sapphire copepods. The crystalline structures in their paper-thin bodies reflects blue light even under the gloomiest of conditions. These plankton, along with the whale sharks, migrate to the surface at night and this is when the local people fish. People and whale sharks share this home and have become accustomed to both living and fishing together.

Unlike the majority of Internet users, however, I was just days away from a trip to Indonesia to see the blue fire Ijen crater hides.
Almost immediately upon descending into the crater, noxious sulfur fumes began blowing upward, forcing Sam and I to don gas masks as we tiptoed just inches from death (or, at best, crippling injury) in our quest for blue flames. So great was our enthusiasm upon finally reaching them (Sam, you see, is just as passionate a photographer as I am) that we stood mere inches from a molten substance that could blind, burn and/or kill us for several minutes just for a chance to get the perfect shot of blue fire.
It rang particularly relevant as I photographed the Ijen crater blue fire, and not just because the mound of sulfur I was marveling at could easily have become a heap of my own death and ruin. It was also not just because of how annoyed the sulfur miners seemed, although that is certainly the beginning of it.
The blue fire is at Kawah Ijen volcano, in East Java, Indonesia. To get here you need to travel to the city of Banyuwangi, accessible by local train from Surabaya, ferry from Bali or plane from any number of cities throughout Indonesia.
In recent years, the smoke caused by the forest fires in Indonesia has become a serious problem. Most of the land in Indonesia is covered with peat moss, which occurs the expanding of fires due to the burning itself. Thus, the surface soil water, reflecting the amount of precipitation in the area, can become the indication of the risk of fires. This study aims to develop a new index reflecting the risk of forest fires in Indonesia using satellite remote sensing through the direct spectral measurements of peat moss soil.We have prepared the peat moss in 7 steps of soil water content measured at an accuracy of 15 percent (Field pro, WD-3). We obtained spectra between 400nm and 1050nm (Source: halogen lamp, spectroscope: self-made space time, spectral analysis kit) from the peat moss.The obtained spectra show the difference from the previous spectral measurement for the soil in various water content. There are the features, especially, in the wavelength range of ultraviolet (400-450nm) and infrared (530-800nm) as shown in the figure; the more the soil water increases, the lower the reflectance becomes. We have developed a new index using the New deep blue band (433 453nm and NIR band 845 885nm of Landsat 8. The resulting satellite images calculated by our original index appears to reflect the risk of forest fires rather than well-known indices such as Normalized Difference Water Index and Normalized difference Soil Index.In conclusion, we have created a new index that highly reflects to the degree of soil water of a peat soil in Indonesia.
