When I watch netflix on chrome on my pc the quality is low and it looks blurry. I tried other browsers and its still the same. This happens on other sites aswell like on youtube if I watch a video in 1080p on my computer vs my phone. It looks a lot better on my phone. Its most noticeable when watching anime since it looks pixely on my computer whereas its fine on my phone. Does anyone know why this is or how to fix it? I want to fix this problem because sometimes I watch on my computer and sometimes on phone so its annoying when its lower quality on one thing than the other.
Reaching out to other Chromebook with Android users. For Netflix (and other streaming services), is there an advantage to using the browser over the Android app, or vice versa? To me, using the Android app seems to make sense, but I don't know if there's a downside. What are your thoughts?
intersting i never noticed that...yea in the app you can choose what you want to hear..stereo or 5.1...............but still even when i play it in my browser i get 5.1.....as far as i can tell it auto plays what your system is set up for...at least thats what it does on my system, because even in the browser my back speakers work, it sounds the same in ether...i set the app to stereo and yep its crappy stereo
I can't get netflix to load on any browser. I always get the message 'ERR_Connection_Refused'. Every other website works fine, other than Disney Plus which won't load. It doesn't come up with the same error code, just continually loads. Very occasionally, netflix will work for a short time, but then stop again. I have tried clearing the cache, browser history etc, and tried on incognito as well as on firefox, safari and chrome. Recently, it started working again for a short period when I downloaded Microsoft silverlight, then again when I enabled flash on the netflix site, and once again when I used Ctrl + R once it was loading. However, I have tried doing these things again to get it to work and they haven't worked.
In a freshly installed Arch I cannot play Netflix using any of my browsers, namely: Firefox and Vivaldi.
Vivaldi complained right off the bat that something was missing and could not play multimedia.
I ended up setting up a japanese language profile within netflix and then using the /browse/audio and selecting japanese (which is available only if you have a japanese language setting on the profile) to find native and dubs. This may help others with the same issue.
I have noticed quite a few incidences where netflix has been identified as web-browsing. Please make sure you are on the latest content version (463 being latest today) and test again as I see some improvements being reported. You may open a support case to follow the updates from bug 68271.
Hey guys, If you are facing the same issue, check out below the guide why this browser related netflix issue is occurring and what is a possible solution. (I am sharing here because it also contains a solution to other netflix errors also. In case, you face any other netflix error in the future, you can get rid of it easily by trying tweaks given in the below guide.)
Hi, I had the same issue and found a solution on the Manjaro Forum that worked for me. You just have to change the settings from "never remember history" to "always remeber history". I have no idea why but it helped me. Here's the link to the post in the forum: -firefox-netflix-playback-error-code-f7701-1003/55065
Before the most recent update to edge i could play netflix and fast forward whenever i want but now with the new update public edge version 116.0.1938.62 i can't even fast forward it without the browser crashing constantly and it's only netflix i've been using the does it. Youtube runs fine all night but once i watch something on netflix and i want to fast forward or rewind the tv show or movie it crashes the browser
I wanted my home-assistant to know when I am watching Netflix on my windows 10 PC and since there is no API for Netflix the only way I found to do this is to check my browser and if the active tab is netflix.com send a mqtt message to hass.
The different browser makers use different DRM technology. Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox use a software-based DRM system called Widevine. Unlike some other, stronger hardware-based systems, this makes it possible (although not easy) for people to use screen-capture software to record Netflix shows.
Both Apple and Microsoft use hardware-based DRM systems, which are harder to crack than the Widevine software. Consequently, Netflix allows users of the Microsoft Edge and Apple Safari browsers to enjoy much better picture quality.
Till now, Netflix has provided millions of movies, TV shows, and documents across the world, and has become one of the biggest video-streaming services. Netflix allows users to stream movies and TV shows on Windows computers using a Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, or Opera browser, or the Netflix app for Windows 8 or Windows 10. But if you want to watch Netflix videos offline, you can only download the videos through the Netflix app and the downloads are only available on the device on which they are downloaded. Given to download Netflix videos on the computer, you should have a computer running Windows 10 Version 1607 or later with the latest version of Netflix Windows 10 app installed.
Compared to the Netflix app, the Netflix web player can be accessed on any Windows PC, is it possible to download Netflix movies or series on the web browser? Of course, the answer is yes. A powerful program is required to download Netflix videos from the Netflix web player -- TunePat Netflix Video Downloader, which can help you download Netflix videos from the web browser on the computer running Windows 7, 8, 10, and 11. Moreover, it enables you to move the video files to any device and save them on the computer forever.
Burn through as many episodes from your latest (and greatest?) boxset binge with the right desktop browser. Choosing one that will give you fast internet streaming, like Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge, will keep your entertainment needs topped up.
The Microsoft Edge browser for Windows users has been dubbed one of the best browsers for Netflix, boasting resolutions of up to 4K. Alongside brilliant viewing quality, Edge is quick, performs well on most sites and has largely replaced its predecessor, Internet Explorer. It comes as standard on all Windows devices and is close (speed wise) to Chrome.
Depending on your bandwidth, network conditions and which web browser you use, your Netflix stream could be sharp and smooth or laggy and blurry. For example, we recently learned that Microsoft's Edge browser and Apple's Safari can play Netflix videos in 1080p mode, but Chrome and Firefox cap out at 720p.
Unless you have really discerning vision, however, you can't tell exactly what kind of stream you're getting in Netflix with your naked eyes. Instead, by hitting a couple of keyboard macros while a video is playing in your browser, you can get important information like the bitrate, resolution and number of dropped frames. More importantly, you can change settings to improve the quality.
This configuration applies to browser-based clients on platforms that support HTML5, the Web Cryptography API, and the WebCrypto Key Discovery API. Examples include CE set-top boxes that include WebKit- or Chromium-based browsers.
Due to browser security policies, it is not possible to make use of HTTP traffic on a web page delivered over HTTPS. As a result a decision must be made regarding the delivery of the initial web page containing the JavaScript MSL stack and the data used to authenticate remote entities. If the initial web page is delivered over an untrusted HTTP channel the MSL stack and authentication data may be modified by a third party. In some cases the MSL stack and authentication data may also be modified by the client user.
We want to watch netflix on the browser not the app. The login page appears but when we click on the Play button a screen appears talking about HTML5 and Silverlight. We know what HTML5 and Silverlight are but find it strange that the WebOS browser does not support this markup language on its player. Oddly YouTube works fine in the browser.

YouTube should run fine as it detects a compatible browser and then only uses HTML. Silverlight like Flash is pretty much dead in the water and no manufacturer if their browser does not support it now is going to bother building in support for it.
Yes YouTube runs fine but oddly not Netflix. I would have thought Netflix uses HTML5 for its browser and WebOS would display HTML5. No big deal just that we use the browser for everything else, email, YouTube, News channels, so we have simply got used to using Netflix from within the browser. Plus we have found Apps usually have limited functions, less security and more bugs so we avoid them. I would not want to get into a protracted discussion about whether to use apps or browser, just wondering, as you do, why a widely-used service such as Netflix would not work on a fairly-widely-used Operating System like WebOs and would there just be some simple setting that we are not aware of to enable Netflix to play content without leaving the browser.
