Sourcing the Intel i211 quad port appliances r is scarce these days...has anyone been running VMware or proxmox on the appliances with Intel 225/226 2.5G ports and then untangle as a VM with the eth ports directly assigned?
Until Arista releases an untangle build that supports 2.5G cards, I'm looking for fanless alternative hardware options. If I need 10G or SFP/+ ports I'll build on a full size Dell 1U server using X710 and quad BCM 1G on the mezzanine.
I have reviewed the untangle options and I like that they offer appliances with warranties but noticed the specs on them are a little low. I noticed NextGen makes some nice ones, and then there are custom ones that DIY can make.
First off.
I made sure that I have the external and the internal. When I plug my external to the router and the internal to the switch I get nothing. I get signal on the untangle box that's it's reading the two cards, but the problem
Is that when I have my external into the router my internet just shuts of. I can't connect for anything, but soon as I unplug the external cable internet works fine. I'm confused what I'm doing wrong. Also, I cannot connect to the up I gave the untangle box from another computer either.
I'm getting further a little at a time.
I first plugged my Ethernet cables in. One into my wan(external) of my router(luxul). Then I plugged my internal cable to my switch(luxul as well).
After I checked my physical connections I went on the untangle box to see if I could get anything. It started to read sessions but it didn't block anything or do anything and I couldn't conncect to the ip using the webGUI, but the internet was still working. Then I tryed disabling wan interface on te external card and it let me Go to the WebGUI but it not internet was not working nor was it blocking anything..
I get the impression you are putting both the router LAN and the Untangle WAN / LAN on the same subnet. You need to separate these so they are routable and so you cannot just bypass the untangle box by putting in the router gateway.
Currently on Untangle - Untangle is really upsetting me. My upload speeds have decrease from 700 to 17.. and they refuse to help actually speak to me, this happened after they auto renews my license. Why choose sophos? is there anyone out there who was using untangle and switch to sophos ?
Pinning down and running a needle through circles as you say, works, I have done it many times, but you may find that stud hinders untangling specially as you get to outer coils. I always unpin and seperate the stud from HS. Like so Remove HS off of the wheel. Re instal stud back in stud holder hole, tighten its screw, push on the sharp point of micro pin with flat face of a thin screwdriver and grab the thick end of the micro pin in tweezers to shake it loose, repeat several times pin will eventually loosen and come out. Proceed to untangle. You may find circles out of round /center/ unlevel. Removing the stud greatly increase chances of success. Good luck
I have used a piece of paper with a small slit. Starting at the collet and moving the paper in a circle to follow the coil . This keeps the tangled part above the paper and easier to untangle with tweezers as you rotate the paper and move your way outward.

The holiday season is a time filled with joy and fun and decorating is a huge part of the festivities. However, there is one aspect of holiday decorating that most people dread every year, unraveling the knot of Christmas lights before you can decorate. No matter how carefully you put them away, every year they wind up in a tangled mess. What if I told you there were ways to store them so they never tangled up again? First things first though, this blog will help you learn how to untangle your Christmas lights and find the ideal way to store them.
Yarn Untangle is a puzzle game where you untangle balls of yarn with the help of your trusted kittens. Simply select a yarn and drag it around to free it from the tangled mess. Pay attention to the color of the connecting threads. Red means it's tangled, pink means it's being untangled, and yellow means you've successfully untangled it. There is an endless mode and also over a hundred meticulously designed puzzles for you to solve, so the game will keep feeling fresh even after playing it for hours! Make sure to get a hint if you're stuck and not sure how to pass a level. Can you finish every level in Yarn Untangle?
