On Friday, 8 teams of Lancers travelled to Longfields-Davidson Heights High School to participate in the OCDSB Air Pulse Challenge. These students represented the fastest air powered car teams from the TAS grade 9 technology course at Sir Wil.
All teams performed very well in the multidisciplinary challenge where students needed to meet strict design requirements, create various media and present and defend their process to judges from the OCDSB.
Our Lancers proved their need for speed by defeating many of their adversaries in the solid wood category throughout the day. By the quarter-finals, 5 of the 8 remaining teams were from Sir Wil. 3 of these Lancer teams advanced to the semi finals. The gold medal match came down to Sir Wil Car 25 “Blackhole” vs. Sir Wil Car 33 “M1”. In the end, “M1” by Mani Gharji and Tugrul Kapici prevailed and took home the gold medal!
Our teams will find out later this week their scores in the non speed related categories.
TAS Teachers Mr. Budgell, Mr. Hinz, Mr. Perrin Mr. Reid are all very proud of how all our teams represented the school.
