WLU Careers for Social Change Fair 2011

We’re looking for individuals interested in developing and learning
about potential career paths, to register for the Careers in Social
Change Fair – 3-days of events for students to explore a number of
diverse career opportunities. The events run from Monday the 14th to
Wednesday the 16th, and include:

Career Planning Workshop - Monday, Mar 14
Grad Lounge, 3 - 4 pm
So you want a career that is about "making a difference" - but how do
you get there?
This workshop will outline key steps in the career planning process,
beginning with an introduction to some career assessments to help you
identify your best possible career matches. We will provide you with
the information and tools to begin researching careers in "social
change" and provide resources to help you determine how to get there.

Speaker Panel & Discussion - Monday, Mar 14
Career Centre, room CC-101 (192 King Street), 4:30 - 6 pm
Come listen to a panel presentation from individuals who are pursuing
a career that benefits society. Speakers will discuss their career
path and provide tips for students interested in using their career to
make a positive difference. The panel will include the following
speakers:
· Nolan Andres, Founder of Peaceworks
· Susan Jantzi, Director of Corporate Affairs & Sustainability
at Sun Life Financial
· Amie Sider, Founder & Director of NationWares
· Mike Morrice, Executive Director, Sustainable Waterloo
· Jennifer King, Project Lead, Knowledge Sharing Initiative,
Capacity Waterloo Region

Grad School Workshop - Tuesday, Mar 15
Career Centre, room CC-101 (192 King Street), 11am - 12pm
Are you considering further education and want to pursue a career in
social change?
Attend this workshop to learn more about how to find and choose the
right program, application requirements/procedures, and how to create
an effective application.

Sponsored by the Laurier Career Centre and Alumni Relations, Career
Connections is an opportunity to meet informally with Laurier alumni
who have pursued a variety of careers. This event is open to all
Laurier students and alumni.

Networking 101 Workshop - Wednesday, Mar 16
Grad Lounge, 3:30 - 4:30 pm
Discover ways to build your professional network and make a positive
impression when interacting with potential employers. Learn about the

Networking Mix & Mingle w/ Ramy Nassar, TedX - Wed., Mar 16
Grad Lounge, 4:30 - 6:30 pm

Sider, Hari Stirbet, Ramy Nassar, Anita Abraham, Natalie Brown, and
Anthony Piscitelli. Nicole McCallum will be hosting and leading this
event.
