Ahead shot or headshot is a modern (usually digital) portrait in which the focus is on the person's face. The term is applied usually for professional profile images on social media, images used on online dating profiles, the 'about us page' of a corporate website, and promotional pictures of actors, models, and authors.

In theater, film, and television, actors, models, singers, and other entertainers are often required to include a head shot, along with their rsum, when applying for a job. Those head shots are intended for helping them land a career, an actor headshot should help casting directors understand the person exactly as he or she is (i.e., age group & ethnic background), while the actor hopes that the headshot will inspire the casting director to hire him or her.[1] Head shots often feature the actor or actress facing off-center. A performer will often have head shots expressing different poses and expressions to give a potential employer an idea of the subject's range of appearances or expressions. These types of head shots are called "looks". It is common for an actor to have different head shots for different roles, but for the most part these consist of a change in attire. The head shots that include a person's shoulders are called "three-quarter" shots. Previously, head shots were often in black-and-white; however, most head shots are now taken in color.[2]

Actors' head shots, when they are printed and not simply uploaded online to an industry database, are done in an 8"10" format. Other promotional images, for example, press shots and lobby prints, may be in many different aspect ratios. Acting head shots are often not photographic prints, instead they are typically printed via a lithographic or laser process.

The main purpose of an actor's head shot is identification. Therefore, the most important feature of an actor's head shot is that it represents the subject. Theatrical head shots are usually very "neutral" looking shots of the actor and clearly show their facial features.[3]

Head shots are intended to show a person as they currently appear and reflect their best qualities. Therefore, if an actor's hair has been recently cut or colored, they would often get a new head shot to reflect their new image. Additionally, if an actor has a scar or facial blemish, it is expected to be visible on the head shot and not digitally removed from the image. Pimples or spots are temporary and, therefore, are usually digitally retouched.

Modeling head shots or comp cards, sometimes also called tear sheets, are a compilation of images for casting in one sheet with a rsum of work, name and relevant statistics. They are often done in color; however, in some jurisdictions, such as the UK, they may be in black-and-white. Models often use them for castings and modeling work applications. A close-up head shot is often required to show a model's skin complexion for beauty work.[citation needed]

Worse yet is Ai/Software can change or distort skin tones, hair color/style, body types and even make culturally offensive suggestions. These are all things that make us who we are and we would never compromise on preserving that.

When you add team members to the Headshots.com dashboard, they will receive an email inviting them to get started and letting them know the deadline for their headshot (also, set by you in the dashboard).

While the quality of the photo may not exactly match a photography session at a studio, the photos you will take in this guide will be 50x better than most selfies and other low-quality photos on LinkedIn these days.

Please see our article below on what to wear for your professional headshot. In short, solid colors look best. Make sure your clothing is wrinkle-free and appropriately positioned (collars in particular).

If you typically have oily skin, you should use a dry paper towel to pat the areas in the middle of your forehead, nose, cheeks and chin. Sometimes, shiny parts of our face can look distracting for your final at-home headshot. And, while we can somewhat edit shine away (discussed later), the photos look much better without shine in the original version.

Besides the photo quality, humans are notoriously bad at selecting photos of ourselves, so any candid feedback will help. If you can, pick someone who is enthusiastic and willing to take several photos.

The camera should be slightly tilted downwards. If you tilt the camera too far down, the lens may distort your facial features in the photo. So, make sure to tilt it at most 15 degrees. You should never have the camera tilted upwards for your photo.

Take at least 20 photos. You may be uncomfortable in front of the camera, but avoid the temptation to take one photo and then quit. The more options you have, the better your chances of capturing a photo that you actually like.

Using the same headshot on a number of different marketing materials can lead to people connecting what they see in other forms of advertising you already have going (outdoor media, website, ads, etc.) to the person they will be dealing with if they decide to go with you. When a customer sees the same headshot on a business card that they do when they drive past your billboard to work every day, their awareness in your brand increases, and you are associated with your respective field.

Plain business cards are ineffective!. However, despite this fact, most business cards are treated simply as a vehicle to convey contact information or office hours to those who may become customers. When a headshot is used, you take up a little bit of space, but it adds character and style to something that may otherwise be boring.

If you are a professional photographer, at one point or another in your career someone will ask you to shoot something outside of your regular genre. Whenever this happens to me I always take an online class relating to the new genre before ever taking on the job. Creative Live was, and still is, my first stop. I learned to shoot weddings using off camera flash from Vanessa Joy and Zach and Jody Gray. Once my wedding couples had little ones and asked me to photograph their bundles of joy, I learned to shoot newborns from baby whisperer, Kelly Brown. So in 2018 when someone asked me to do a headshot for them, I went to Creative Live and watched every class they had on headshots. This is how I was introduced to the world of Peter Hurley, one of the top portrait photographers in the world, and a Canon Explorer of Light.

So when I won Headshot of the Week this past Tuesday I was ELATED. I did happy dances all over the house! Seeing my image on the homepage for the group was phenomenal. It gave me the courage to change the main focus of Vail Fucci Photography from weddings to headshots and portraiture.

I am incredibly thankful to Peter Hurley for creating this wonderful group. He has shared his beautiful triangle lighting pattern with the members of the headshot crew as well as so many other important facets of headshot photography. Additionally the crew is an amazing community of photographers. We support each other. I am proud to be a member of this group of kind and talented photographers and to support others on their journey of becoming the best headshot photographer they can be.

While this was the most expensive option, I view headshots as one of the most important investments in your personal brand. My headshot is my online brand logo. When people see my content on platforms like Linkedin, they also see my headshot photo. My photo needs to build trust and authority and demonstrate likability.

Ethical concerns also arise regarding the creation and usage of AI-generated headshots. Questions about consent and the ethical implications of generating images without explicit permission can raise ethical dilemmas, particularly when these images are used in ways individuals may not have intended or approved.

Quality concerns regarding AI-generated headshots cannot be overlooked. Depending on the quality of the input images or the algorithms used, distorted features or inaccuracies in the final generated headshots might impact their overall usefulness.

If you are in a position where your photo will get a lot of visibility or is a digital-first impression for client-facing sales or customer service work, I would strongly consider a professional headshot taken by a photographer. A great photo can build trust with your target audience before they even have the chance to meet you in person.

So I playing around with the UI settting in hopes of getting to see when I land a headshot rather than seeing critical damge of my weapon as I just love the rewading feeling of getting a headshot and I always felt like Warframe was missing this visual clue.

However I found that no matter what colour i chose for critical shot and the head shot indictor I could never see the colour I chose for the headshot Indicator... so I was wondering is it bugged? is it working in some other way than I expect? I tried googlin a bit but couldn't really find an answer here so I'd aprreciate anyting here.
