You guys—after what Q13 News dubbed “the coldest Seattle winter in 32 years”—summer is finally here!

Just think, we get to trade in over 150 days of grey skies and wet sidewalks—during which time we broke a 122 year-old rainfall record—for anywhere between 60-90 days of sunshine.

Seattle is probably the best place to be in the summertime. There’s never a dull moment because we’re used to cramming an entire season of events—the Pride Parade, Seafair, and the Solstice Parade to name just a few—into a mere 8 weeks.

And when you’re not paddleboarding on the lake or watching naked people strut their collective stuff on bicycles in the summer heat, the Latona has you covered.

First, it’s Sierra Nevada’s Beer Camp season. This year, they’ve gone international with their brewing road show, collaborating with breweries around the world like Fuller’s (U.K.), Mikkeller (Denmark), Kiuchi (Japan), and the Garage Project (NZ). These beers are super limited and will be pretty hard to find, so you’ll want to stop by the pub on Monday, June 12th, when we’ll be pouring a bunch of them during happy hour.

Aslan’s Disco Lemonade is one of our favorite summer beers, so we’ll be celebrating the release of that beer on Thursday, June 15th, with our Disco Lemonade Party. Shannon will be spinning 70’s tunes, and we’ll have several pretty killer beers from Aslan on tap all night.

One last thing—in case you haven’t heard, we’re turning 30 this summer, so we’ve been releasing a new beer each month with a local brewery. We’ve tried to get every brewery to attempt something new with each brew, and Holy Mountain thought it might be fun to make us an IPA. It’s packed full of Mosaic, Simcoe, and Citra hops—nothing but the hits—and we can’t wait to release this beer on Monday, June 19th. Bob and I had a lot of fun making this beer with the boys at the brewery—the energy in that place is unlike any other brewery we’ve been to, and we’re really honored to have them involved with our 30th anniversary.

That evening’s Brewer’s Dinner is sold out, but you’ll want to get this beer while it’s fresh. It’s also a great opportunity to try some beers that don’t make it out of their taproom very often, so come get after it with us.

As always, Phil Sparks will be lighting the place up every Friday from 5pm to 7pm with his rotating cast of troublemakers for our Jazz Happy Hour.

Once again, thanks for making the Latona your neighborhood pub. I look forward to celebrating the arrival of summer by raising several pints on the proper side of the bar with all of you.

Cheers,

Matt
