--Living Wage for Families Exhibition –and Forum.

 

As you know, as part of the Listening Circles project,  families took part in working with a community artist and photographer in conceptualizing an  Exhibition (September 13 in the evening) to share their experiences and stories.  Attending to these events will be a gesture to support the parents that took part in the project and to spread the word on the significance of this Campaign in ‘making the city a liveable place for families.’ 

 

Please consider attending the Forum (September 14 day time) and let all your networks know about this events.

 

**Two Upcoming Living Wage for Families Campaign Events 

All are welcome to attend these two free events. Both are taking place at the Roundhouse Community Center. For more information see the poster, brochure, or visit our Facebook event page.

Thursday September 13th, 7pm: “Living Cities: Reducing Child Poverty, Photography and Social Change” Exhibit Opening Celebration.”  This is an exhibit of images that visually capture the stories of the working families involved in Listening Circles Project (video). This launch will be hosted by the distinguished journalist and broadcaster, Kathryn Gretsinger.
 
Friday September 14th, 10am-3pm: Children & Livable Cities Forum  
The Forum will explore: methods of engagement with families in your community who are struggling with low wage poverty; how to document the stories of low wage workers; how to use art as an effective tool for social change; how to foster productive dialogue about living wages through the use of photography and other forms of expression; how the living wage for families campaign is changing the dialogue about low wages 
Speakers include: Michael McCarthy Flynn, Organizer, Living Wage for Families Campaign; Blanca Salvatierra, Community Development Coordinator, Mount Pleasant Neighborhood House; Anne Marie Slater, artist and photographer
