margin notes in box with link

I came across this in some notes in an MIT course. The ai\uthor uses marginal notes but the notes are in a shaded box with a link drawn to the exct place in the text it refers to. 

See screen shot below.

Does anyone know if there is a latex package to produce these? It looks like it is probably a Tikz package, but I couldn't find it.

Thanks, yes that seems to be the package used.
