Hello there,

I am wondering is there any command which makes the first letter of the first paragraph big one or we have to do it our own?
As we have seen several research papers which shows first letter using space of 3 lines and all other content goes behind it. Is there any built in command for it?

Hello There,

To perform this operation we can use lettrine or dropping package.

This is the command I've used and this one is working perfectly.

\usepackage{lettrine}
\lettrine[lines=3]{C}{}loud computing

Cheers.

I've got a question on lettrine.

Used as "standard" it works fine. however, I'd like to use a different
font for the drop cap. How is this done? How (and where) do you put
the new font?

Hi Mark,

You can renew the command as per font shape, font family and font color you want.
This is what I've done.

\renewcommand{\LettrineFontHook}{%
  \fontfamily{pag}\fontseries{bx}\fontshape{it}\color{red}}

\lettrine[findent=.3em]{B}{l} ah blah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blah

Maybe this is useful.

Read the documentation in lettrine.pdf, top of page 3.
