Hello,
I am using WinEdt 5.3 with MikTeX 2.7 on Vista. I am making slides
for my presentation using beamer class. In the process, I happened to
have new style files and moved them along with beamer original style
files. When compiling the tex file using using PDFLaTex or LaTex
option, WinEdt won't find new styles files that I newly moved to the
directory. Original files are of course recognized with no problem.
How do I solve this? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hello

Did you "Refresh FNDB" after loading the new style files?

Miktex -> Settings -> General -> Refresh FNDB (button)

Hi,

In the MikTex Program group, click on settings.

On the General tab, You'll find a button called Maintenance for something
like FNDS. Press this button then everything should work fine.

When you manually install .sty files you need to do this because this
updates the file system that MikTex uses

Hope this helps

Thank you very much. That solved the problem.
is that something I should do every time I add files?

It depends on what exactly you want to achieve. If you just need a
package for one presentation, put the *.sty files into the folder with
your tex-file. Then you don't need to update the file database of
MikTeX. However, if you want the files to be accessible by any
project, you need to let MikTeX know, where they are: i.e. put them
into MikTeX directory structure and update the database.
