Changing header from uppercase to lowercase latex

I am using fancyheadings package in latex. But by default it gives
uppercase header. I want to change it to lowercase. Please help

first things first: fancyheadings is outdated: switch to fancyhdr,
which has replaced it. you can have both upper- and lowercase
headers, depending on your setup.
