I tried to put newspaper articles as either "article" or "misc", but
in either case the month and date of the newspaper article is now
shown in the output when I build the paper. What should I do? What I
want is a format like this:

XXX. 2005. "Title of A News Article." Wall Street Journal. October
25.

Thanks.

You don't say what BiBTeX style you are using. The APA style has specific types for newspaper and magazine articles, for example, but most formats don't. Have you tried InCollection (and ignoring the errors about no publisher)?

It is possible to modify the .bst files, but the language is difficult.
