Hello,

I am trying to run LaTeX on a template file (biophys_letter.tex)
provided by a journal. When I do so, I get the following error:

! LaTeX Error: Math version `bold' is not defined.

From the log file, it seems that the error occurs when reading
amsfonts.sty, which is called by biophys_letter.cls, the document
class which the journal provides.

Sadly, the journal itself offers no help with its LaTeX template (they
told me most people use Word). I was wondering if anyone knows how to
fix the problem as I'd rather not switch to Word.

The beginning of the template file biophys_letter.tex is below.

Thanks,

Neer

Does your document compile without any problem if you just change the
documentclass from the required biophys_letter to (say) article? If I
use the above preamble with all the packages from dcolumn to mathtime
there is no problem compiling.

Better yet, provide a minimal example duplicating your compilation
error. That way we can independently figure out where the problem
might be:

Hello,

The document compiles fine if I switch the documentclass to article
(and I remove any special commands defined in biophys_letter.cls)

The minimal example below produces the same error.

\documentclass{biophys_letter}
\begin{document}
Minimal file
\end{document}

The error I see (after a call to amsfonts.sty) is

! LaTeX Error: Math version `bold' is not defined.

See the LaTeX manual or LaTeX Companion for explanation.
Type H <return> for immediate help.
...

l.132 ...thAlphabet{\mathfrak}{bold}{U}{euf}{b}{n}

Where may I find the 'biophys_letter' documentclass file?

Hi,

I experience the same problem. I work on a Mac (OS 10.4) and compile
my LaTeX documents from within TeXShop.Did you already find a
solution? I would be very grateful for any assistance.

Cheers,

Jo
