Making tables easy in Latex

Hi,
I was searching for an easy way to make tables in Latex. I came across the following packages/softwares
1) excel2latex
2) LaTable
3) Word-to-Latex
4) Spreadsheet2latex
5) LyX
6) making a generic template of table on my own in tex file
Of all these, I, being a Windows user, excel2latex made my life easier in converting a table written in word or excel to latex code with minimal effort. One good thing is excel2latex supports multirow option which is unavailable in current versions of LaTable and LyX.

Another important thing in excel2latex is that the source code is available. We can alter in VBA to suit our requirement.
If anyone knows a better software preferably platform independent also with complicated tables support, let me know.
