Hi all,
I recently upgraded Miktex 2.7 packages through random repository. After upgradation, I was shocked to see that my old beamer files are not compiled properly and produced 3 error messages. The real problem is that the geometry package was upgraded to newer version, which eliminated some old commands  that are essential for beamer to work.
After Google search I was lucky to get this url

http://www.latex-community.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=8425

which suggested a solution.

Just include the following lines

\makeatletter
\let\ifGm@compatii\relax
\makeatother

before \documentclass{} statement and the problem is solved.

hai SSS Mani
I am using Miktex 2.7.2960.
Kindly check the version of yours (i.e., 2.7.2960). If you are using the same version, then upgradation is pretty much starightforward. (in case of Windows) Goto Windows-->All programs -->MikTex2.7-->Update Select "Use the nearest repository" and in connection settings select "Use proxy server" and then enter proxy address "10.65.0.32" and port no. "3128" Select "Authentication required" then click Ok. click next and enter your user name and password and click Ok. Now your PC will search for nearest repository by itself and will update your packages. It took around 1/2 hr for me to complete.
Important note: Ensure that your antivirus and firewall doestn't prevent MikTex from connecting to internet.
