The answer from chntgomez points in the right direction - the Filter for ArrayAdapter simply uses startsWith(...) to match the constraint. It first tries it on the start of the complete string and then attempts to split the string (using space char as a delimiter) to check to see if multi-word strings startWith(...) the constraint (prefix).

By changing the use of startsWith(...) to contains(...) you can achieve a 'match' on an individual char or sequence of characters. The code to split any multi-word strings can also be removed as it's not necessary.

The filter() method will return the coincidences of the keyword "cs". In this example, "Stackoverflow" will not match "tackover" because the comparison will evaulate if "Stackoverflow" starts with "Tackover". As it will return false, then its not going to make it through the filter.

Wordsearch provides you with a grid of letters for which you have to find the hidden words, which can be written in any direction. A method and a good eye are essential qualities that'll help you quickly find the words from the list.

The advantage of the Android version of Wordsearch is an infinite number of wordsearch grids. You can also play it in several languages, which is a good way to enhance your vocabulary in not only English, but in one of the 8 other languages available.

Experiment with the look, sound, and shape of words! In Word Search Jr. players select "Puzzle" to choose from one of the twelve themes that include Farm Animals, Sea Creatures, and Things in a Closet. Then pick the easy or hard (5- or 10-word) version. A list of primarily one- and two-syllable words will appear onscreen at right.

After finding one of the words in the puzzle, players can either tap the first and last letter of the word or swipe across it, up and down or diagonally. Earn a star for each word found. Choose "Shuffle" to change the word list and re-scramble the puzzle at any time. Tap a word in the list to hear its pronunciation. Select the lightbulb icon if you need a hint. Choose the question mark if you need to hear the instructions again. Younger players learn to recognize and identify letter combinations. Older players reinforce word skills and race against the clock. This game sharpens focus, word recognition and spelling! The app can also help give adult brains a quick and easy workout.

If you click the search button, you see your last contacts and can choose from categories such as Starred, Images, Videos, Places and Links.

You may also see results for Photos, GIFs, Links, Videos, Documents and Audio that match your search.

This pleasing app is a great place to start when searching for the best word search games. Available for Apple or Android users, Word Search Pro offers varying levels of difficulty, and hints for when the frustration point is reached. A simple finger swipe allows you to find and highlight the hidden word. In app purchases are offered, but the game can readily be enjoyed without them.

Similar to its comptemporaries above, Word Crush: Hidden Words has you searching for every word you can possibly find in a grid. Letters can be used over and over in any direction, making the list of possible words longer than such a small grid would suggest. I included this version because its aesthetic is so different than many of the word games available, making it a definite draw for some.

Bringing a Candy Crush type of flair to the word search world, Word Stacks asks you to find hidden words and make those blocks disappear. This leads to shrinking stacks and improved scores. Use this game for solo fun or up the ante by trying to climb the leaderboard with tournament play.

Imagine a word search where the words never stood still. Scrolling Words asks you to search for words within a sea of letters that is constantly moving across the screen. Difficulty can be adjusted by changing the speed or utilizing a timer. Your eyes will surely get tired, but the themes and scenery can be switched to give the whole game a refresh.

Words Crush offers six different play modes to tease and challenge your brain. Imagery plays a big role in this game, using silhouettes instead of word lists, or asking you to figure out phrases based on emojis. A fun departure from typical word search fare, Word Search is another that might suit younger players, or anyone looking for some playfulness in their game.

@Jwwk281705 I've tried reinstalling my Outlook for Android, as suggested, but every search continues to return 'No results' - a big problem for Outlook useability on the move. Last year it used to work ok and I'm not aware of making any relevant changes. Any suggestions welcome!

@4everLearning have you found a solution? I have been dealing with the same issue for months. I have forced closed, cleared the cache, deleted the account and reinstalled as well as deleted ans reinstalled the app. Nothing is fixing the search problem. The search result continues to return null! So frustrating.

@E2005x3, sorry I've not found a solution to this very frustrating problem. More web-searching hasn't come up with other suggested solutions.
Microsoft, please give this attention and help us with this issue which seriously impacts the useability of Outlook for Android and so Outlook generally.

I was looking for a solution to the search functionality not working on my Outlook for Android app, which led me to this discussion. I have just found the solution by chance.. Every time I used the search function it always showed 'no results'. If I click on the down arrow next to the search function, the search default was to my hotmail email (microsoft email), which I rarely use, but it wouldn't let me change to one of my other email accounts. A get around it to click on the house icon for 'all accounts', and the search function worked! I hope this works for everyone else.

@Suzanne1495 I have the same problem. Next problem is, that I don't see Home button, neither down arrow. So 'search' function still doesn't work. Worked many years ... Please, are you able to help with this?

I have only one account. I don't see down-arrow, neither Home button. Please see screenshots: texts are in Slovak language, but position and meaning is same as in English. 1-st screen is before tapping search icon and the 2-nd is after tapping. Nowhere is a down-arrow neither Home button. Only left-arrow - back arrow.

Thank You! This was my exact issue. 2 emails and search was pointing tov he one I rarely use. I reinstalled Outlook many times as suggested by other posts and search would work for a while and then stop working. That search target drop down option is not something I noticed before until you pointed it out.

Wordscapes is one of a few great puzzle apps, combining creating words with a crossword puzzle. You just swipe to connect the letters to create words that fit into the crossword. Keep in mind that not all possible words are correct. They must fit into the crossword puzzle for you to progress.

If you enjoy relaxing word games, then Wordscapes is definitely one to check out. The puzzle packs are themed with beautiful imagery from sunrises to forests to oceans. The game also has a pleasant soundtrack to enhance your experience. For a casual and challenging word game, Wordscapes is fantastic.

Another letter-connecting word game with a balanced challenge is Words Crush: Hidden Words. You are presented with letters to connect that create words for the theme. But, the trick is that when you swipe through them, the remaining letters fall. So, be careful to connect them correctly when you have more than one of the same letter.

Maybe when you play a word game, you like to mix pictures with it. If so, take a look at Pictoword. This out-of-the-ordinary word challenge tests your solving skills. You will see two pictures that combine to create a word. For example, one picture might be a key and the other a chalkboard. Fill in the number of letters shown to create one word based on the images.

Pictoword offers quests for you to complete for extra game goodies, so be sure to check for new ones often. You can also join the daily challenges and earn coins. Then, use those coins to obtain hints that remove or reveal letters or let you skip the puzzle. Pictoword is a great combination of picture and word game.

In Ruzzle, you're presented with a group of random letters to create words from, competing against friends or random players to create as many words as possible in two minutes over three rounds. You earn points for your creating the longest word or the best word, how accurate your answers were, and how many words you created compared to your opponent.

With the two-minute time limit, it's a race against the clock as well as a battle of wits. You have to strike a balance between creating a high number of words and thinking of words that utilize the most letters and on-board bonuses.
