to LAStools - efficient tools for LiDAR processing
I have laz files of terrestrial lidar data that have "range" (distance from scanner) stored as an "extra byte" (lasinfo report attached).

Is there a way to filter (remove) points using that attribute?

For instance:

las2las -i *.laz -olaz -keep_extra_byte_between 0 10 20

...this would be keep points with extra_byte "0" between 10 and 20 meters

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

-Josh

Hello Josh.

It's documented in the '-h' output (see in red below) of any recent version of LAStools. This may work for you:

las2las -i *.laz ^
            -drop_attribute_above 0 20 ^
            -drop_attribute_below 0 10 ^
            -odix _filtered -olaz

Martin @rapidlasso
