to LAStools - efficient tools for LiDAR processing
Jochen,

I am the developer of the FUSION set of tools for working with point data. I received a report from a user this morning that the latest versions of the LASzip.dlls are not behaving with FUSION tools. I was able to verify the behavior (dll won't even load).

I notice that there are changes in the repo related to the new messaging concept but it doesn't look like the interface to the dll has changed. I also noticed that the binaries are much smaller than previous versions. This could be due to some changes in complier options, but the size difference is substantial (32K (new) versus 220k (older) for the 32-bit version of the dll).

just checking to see if laszipdllexample has been tested with this latest release to verify that the dlls are working correctly.

I have not tried recompiling from source for either the dlls or FUSION tools so there could be something different in the dll interface that is causing the problem. I also have not pinpointed a specific error related to loading the dll.

Thanks
Bob

Hi Bob,
thanks for the hint!
Indeed the DLLs was not build correct.
We will fix this with next release.
If you do not have the old DLLs anymore you can download the latest ones at

Thanks,

I just looked at the latest distribution of LAStools and noticed that the 32-bit version of laszip.dll is labeled incorrectly (laszip3.dll instead of laszip32.dll). I also had someone having trouble using the 64-bit version from the latest release but not sure if there is a problem with the dll or if it was something they were doing incorrectly.
