Converting 3PF to other format

to LAStools - efficient tools for LiDAR processing

I need to convert a 3PF file (a point cloud created by a Riegl laser scanner, many many years ago) to another format (PTS, XYZ or PLY are the ones I prefer).

Does anyone suggest a solution?
