to LAStools - efficient tools for LiDAR processing
Hello Group:

For purposes of exercise and test if this is going to work lets say we have a first return only LAS to a TIFF (say frDSM.tif) via las2dem or lasgrid and then another say for a last return LAS to TIFF same as before via las2dem or lasgrid (say lrDSM.tif).
I would like to be able to see the resulting image TIFF so that essentially I perform the operation ddDSM=frDSM.tiff - lrDSM.tiff (say a difference) would that be possible without me doing it in Matlab outside LAStools? Any suggestions?

Hi Bernardino,

the subtraction of two tiff images is very easy in any remote sensing or GIS software.

In case that you don't have access to e.g. ENVI, ERDAS or ArcMap or any other commercial software, you could also try it in QGIS, which is a free open source software.

Regards
Melanie

Hi Dr.Melanie:

Thanks for the suggestion I know it could be done by that too but if this is some few parts of a long script I'd like to build in Windows CMD or in Python also again I wanted it to be in context
of a "pure" LAStool processing approach.

Regards,
Berns B.

Hello,

I suggest using GDAL or GRASS that will allow you to script together point processing of LAStools with raster processing in a single batch file. I find that especially GDAL makes a great companion to do all kind of raster magic with the results produced by LAStools ...
