ASPRS LiDAR Point Class for Snow

Hello,

What pointclass do people use for points on snow/ice?
Has any de facto standard been established by the industry?

I don't know for sure, but I doubt it. The number of possible classes out there is one of the reasons we need to move to both LAS 1.4 and to put domain profiles in place. See http://www.asprs.org/Press-Releases/ASPRS-Lidar-Division-Releases-First-LAS-Domain-Profile.html and http://www.asprs.org/a/society/divisions/lidardivision/LAS_Domain_Profile_Description_Topo-Bathy_Lidar.pdf for example. 

I can tell you based on the lidar we host on Digital Coast that the class assignments beyond the original LAS 1.0 spec are all over the map and you generally have to read the metadata to know what you've got.
