Hello,

Is there a way I can apply a rotation and
translation (3 axis) transformation to a
point cloud through perhpas las2las? Like a
rigid body transformation involving only
translations and rotation in the 3 axis. If this
has arleady been answered, could you point me to the thread.

This is for a set fls (Faro Laser Scan) files
of the same target from different scan positions.
The fls files are exported to e57 in scene
program and then to las through e572las lastools
command. I found out that I cannot set the point
source on the e572las command, I want to set the
point source id for the different scan positions,
it has to be set on a second instrance
of las2las -set_point_source_to ScanPositionID

If you know of another route or better solution, thanks!

Alejandro:

Nice to hear from CICESE, I spent some time over there while getting my Oceanology degree across the street in the UABC.

You can use something like the following:

las2las -v -i *d2.las *b4.las -translate_x 6553620 -translate_y 250000 -rotate_xy 180 20000 20000

In the first one you translate your object in the x and the y axis, I guess you can translate in the z as well, and then you rotate it, additionally, you can attempt it in two steps, one for the translation and one for the rotation for additional control. When you apply the rotation, keep in mind the format -rotate_xy 15.0 620000 4100000 (angle + origin)

I hope this helps.

Best

Miguel.
