download LAStools for ERDAS IMAGINE (prototype for testing)

Hello,

a prototype for running LAStools from within ERDAS IMAGINE 2014 is now available for beta testing.

This is not the final version but some feedback is appreciated as we'll be working on it again later this week. See the README.txt file for installation instructions.

Attached a screenshop of sample pipeline from the Example folder.

the "LAStools.pdf" file in the LAStoolsCommon folder is not an Adobe Acrobat PDF but a small ASCI text file that adds new menu options to the Preference section of ERDAS IMAGINE 2014 (see its contents below). All the (rather limited) instructions are in the README.txt file ...

Now I understand why LAStools.pdf was corrupted pdf - thanks for clarification though I agree that naming non pdf files with pdf extension might be bit confusing :-)

We will definetly give a test. Imagine Model Builder is a nice graphical workflow tool and adding LASTools there is a really nice additional feature to the existing tools.

Sorry for the PDF confusion. 

The ERDAS IMAGINE Preference Definition File (PDF) was first used in original development versions of ERDAS IMAGINE and have been used to this day. It is a simple structured ASCII file used to define the defaults and custom settings of many processes within ERDAS IMAGINE. Adobe confiscated the PDF extension several years later... (honestly, Adobe did not know the former ERDAS, Inc. from the man-in-the-moon, so no blame should be places on their shoulders).

Thanks to all who provided early feedback. Time for the second round. The last 4 days we spent together with one of the core ERDAS IMAGINE developers to further improve the LAStools toolbox for ERDAS IMAGINE 2014. A new version of the prototype with many more tools being exposed and much easier installation is now available here:

The installation instructions that are in the README.txt file are also much more clear now and there are three screenshots (attached) that show you how to set the preferences in ERDAS IMAGINE to point to your LAStools distribution.
